1.o
Explain how the 3 ‘isms and alliances helped
cause of World War I.
A. The 3 ism's are militarism, nationalism, imperialism the alliances are as followed :
Central Powers : Germany, France, Austria-Hungary, Turkish Ottoman Empire, Bulgaria, Romania.
Allied Powers : France , Russia, Britain , and their empire ( The U.S and Italy were involved later in the war.
One cause was the rise of Nationalism, the building up of military and alliances, and the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Before WW 1 a group of alliances gave European powers a sense of security. they formed a alliance to provide protection to one another and to ensure an ally of theirs would come to their aid if they needed help in battle. But what really caused WW1 was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand by someone named Gavrilo Princip a member of the Black Hand. Following the assassination Serbia declared war on Austria on July 28th but because of Austria's alliance with Germany Serbia tried to get Help from Russia which vowed to stay behind Serbia in 1914 but before that Russia received support from France. Germany declared war on Russia and then a bunch of other people declared war on other people which eventually created/caused WW1.
2.Identify the immediate causes of World War I and how they relate the long term causes. A. One of the causes of WWI was the assassination of Archduke Franz. Ferdinand. Another thing that started WW1 was alliance between countries. Austria-Hungary started an economic war because they stopped buying pork from Serbia witch is Serbia's biggest export. Also Austria-Hungary was Serbia's biggest customer so that really hurt them economically. And, as a result to this, Austria Hungary and Serbia's relations have been soured. Which angered Serbia even more is that when they acquired a new minister Austria-Hungary tried to annex some land from them. between 1912 and 1913 Serbia was involved in 2 Balkan wars, and by the time the 2 Balkan wars were ended Serbia acquired lots of captured territory to it's empire and it made Austria-Hungary even more concerned. They were concerned that if Serbia kept on adding land they would get more allies and get a bigger army then eventually declare war on Austria-Hungary once they had some people to back them up.
3.Analyze the major events of WWI and how they shaped the war itself
A.
4.o Analyze the impact of new technologies on World War I.
A. The new technologies of World War I are mustard gas, mustard gas would cause people in the war to use gas mask because if they did not use the gas mask they would die because the gas would get into their lungs and cause blisters witch would eventually kill you cause your lungs will swell up and you could not breathe, if it also got onto your skin it would cause your skin to burn. In World War 1 the invention of the machine gun was created, the machine gun would make it so the opposite side would have to build trenches in order to stay alive, it also made the opposite come up with a new war strategies instead of lining up in rows because the machine gun would just take them all out. Another creation was the tank the tank was strong and powerful but it was slow. there was also another big change they had planes and U-boats/ submarines.
5.o o Analyze the impact of the war on the common soldier and the populations of the nations involved.
A. The impact of the war on the populations of nations has dramatically decreased when WWI was over. What it did to people was that firstly, they had to deal with family casualties ( people in the family who died in war ) and then the people who actually did return from war either had missing limbs and had to deal with that for the rest of their lives ( some people killed themselves ). Also there where other people who had " Shell Shock", this was a condition people received from coming back from war, since it was shaking all the time the people got used to it, therefore they couldn't stop shaking due to the continuous warfare and the occasional bombardments. The people also had economic problems because all of the supplies went to the war, prices of things like food skyrocketed. These economic problems, later lead to the Great Depression later on, because after 4 years the worlds economy has been drained Britain, whose economy had relied on trading, faced serious economic problems. around 40% of its merchant fleets had been destroyed by German submarines in the war, making it difficult to export goods.
o 6. Predict future events in Europe as a result of the Treaty of Versailles.
A. Germany was blamed for WWI. They had to pay off all the reparations to the Allies. This changed the world because all of the other countries felt cheated and betrayed by the peace settlements as well {Germany too}.Also, some countries such as japan and Italy which had entered the war to gain territory, had gained less than they wanted. So everyone was just unhappy with the outcome of joining the war.For one thing, it broke up the German and Autro-Hungarian empires and created a number of new soveriegn states out of them. Examples include Poland, Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia.
Michael o Identify elements that caused WWI in today’s political climate and could these elements lead to another war?. I might add that the Treaty of Versailles was the primary enabler of WW2. Hitler and his party would never have gained support if the people weren't resentful against the allies.
7.Identify elements that caused WWI in today’s political climate and could these elements lead to another war?
A.After WWI, the major players(countries etc.) tried to make certain that Germany wouldn't be able to attack Europe again. Financial sanctions were implemented to prevent military buildup. The Great Depression of the 1930's caused quite a bit of financial hardship on German citizens. The people were poor and as such embraced socialism. The NAZI Party of Germany claimed an ability to solve all of the problems of the suffering Germans. NAZI is a German acronym for "National Socialists Workers Party". Germans were anxious to solve their problems and the hardships made it easier for Hitler to get into power and blame everything on the Jews. By taking all financial resources of the Jews, Hitler was able to finance his war and attempted takeover of Europe. In effect, the sanctions following WWI resulted in a motivation for the Socialists of Germany.
